Collaborative law is an alternative dispute resolution method in which both spouses and their lawyers make a commitment to work together with respect and compassion. It allows couples to reach a divorce agreement outside the courtroom that is workable for all parties.

Using a collaborative law approach, all parties pledge in writing not to go to court. They then hold a series of face-to-face discussions between the couple and their attorneys until an agreement is reached. The parties must commit to a respectful, problem-solving approach.

We bring in knowledgeable assistance. With this approach, teams of financial planners, counselors and even mortgage brokers can help your family determine your needs and priorities as you work out your dissolution of marriage.

The process is quicker. Where a traditional divorce may take several months or even years, a collaborative divorce can often be done in six months or less.

The process may also be cheaper. Without the traditional fees that come with a long court fight, a collaborative solution can save you money.

Children are better off. In a collaborative divorce, because they won't be used as pawns in bitter family squabbles, children can better deal with the reality of their new situation.

We can help. At the The Perry Law Firm, LLP, we understand the difficulty families and children go through in a divorce. That's why we support collaborative law: we believe in helping our clients resolve their cases without the bitterness and anger that comes with many divorce proceedings.
